Our Little Bulldogs class is a new class for children ages 3-5 interested in MMA. The focus of the classes will be on fundamental movements and positions for kickboxing, wrestling, and BJJ...and of course fun! Your child will be having fun while learning self defense, improving his/her confidence, as well as benefitting from discipline and structure. It's so important for kids to be active and engaged at a young age. We are happy to be able to offer this program to our students and the community.
Classes will be starting March 2, 2013 and will run on Saturdays from 10:15-10:50. Please contact Sarah immediately to register and save your youngster's spot on the mat!
I am so proud of the Zuma Ultimate Kids who competed at the Musashi BJJ tournament Jan 20. 9 kids went over (with one winning his match before being forced to withdraw due to illness) and we brought home 1 gold, 9 silver, and 3 bronze. Medals are always exciting to bring back home, but the hapiness I saw in the kids really was priceless. For many of the children, it was their first experience in a tournament, and all rose to the occasion. I am a proud coach!
Thank you to Adam Zugec, Kirsten Slym, and all the parents for helping and supporting at the tournament!
I can't figure out how to embed the video but this is one you NEED to watch!!!!
Don't worry Sarah, Coach has come to your rescue ONCE again! Video embeded!!!
I had an awesome time working with the Streetmade Team as well as Bobby Razak on this project. I look forward to so many more in the future!!! Make sure to tell me/them what you think of the video :)
And don't forget to Just Out Work 'Em

Today was pretty busy as I had to make weight, go to weigh ins, arrange to hand off some tickets, EAT!!! and have some fun watching the fights and just relaxing. I took some pics throughout the day so here they are. (to be fair Adam Zugec took the majority of the pictures, but that's ok) I also need to put in a note apologizing to Adam Zugec for not having any presence on my blog :(
As we were hanging out waiting to weigh in, Judo Gene Lebelle was also there so I snuck a picture with him. He's a really funny guy and has stories to tell for days, so we heard some good ones from the legend.
At the weigh ins Adam managed to snap a couple of pictures from the stage where both Alexis and I weighed in at 135.5lbs.
After leaving the weigh ins and getting some liquid (pedialyte, water, protein shake, gatorade, vitamin water) - ok a lot of liquid - and some fruit, Julie Kedzie, Adam Zugec and I went to get some real food. My meal was awesome as I got some really clean food thanks to the Arnolds being in town and the competitors needing some clean eating. I also got to see Julie let loose just a little (not too much).
I'm feeling satiated and satisfied and ready to have a good night's sleep. I don't know if I'll be posting again before my fight, so if not, please make sure to watch on Superchannel/ Showtime Extreme starting at 8pm EST. Have a great night!
